How to Open a Brokerage Account or Buy a Mutual Fund in Your PENSCO Account

You can use the same form to open a brokerage account in your PENSCO retirement account or to buy a mutual fund. Just follow the separate instructions.

How to open a brokerage account in your PENSCO account

  1. Fill out the accountholder information
  2. In Section 2, select "Buy", then fill out your brokerage firm information.
  3. If you work with a specific domestic broker at the firm and would like us to work directly with that person, include broker's name and contact information on the form.
  4. Include any additional information we might need in order to open up the exact type of account you'd like to hold in your retirement account (e.g., a special name, certain fee structure, etc.).
  5. Sign and mail or fax to us. You can fax the form to 415.956.3016, Attn: Funding Department.
  6. To fund the new brokerage account, include the appropriate Investment Funding form.

How to purchase a mutual fund in your PENSCO account

  1. Fill out the accountholder information
  2. In Section 2, select "Buy" and fill in the CUSIP number and the name of the fund.
  3. Indicate the specific dollar amount you want us to invest into the fund.
    • Do not include the number of shares as we do not purchase specific share amounts but will purchase the number of shares to match the dollar amount you indicate based on the share price at the time we make the purchase on your behalf.
    • You must always leave at least $500 in the cash (un-invested) portion of your PENSCO account to cover any transaction fees.
  4. If the funds are still en route to PENSCO from a resigning custodian, please check the box indicating that this investment is "Pending Transfer of Funds.
  5. If you already know of a broker at the mutual fund company whom you would like us to deal with on your behalf, include the name and contact information on the form.
  6. Fill out the appropriate Investment Funding form.
  7. Sign and mail or fax to us. If faxing to us, send to Attn: Funding.
